The Players – ANTIDOTE Issue #1

Washington, DC is a great city. One of the world’s capital cities. DC is complex. It’s powerful, and it’s weak. It’s insanely rich, and it’s depressingly poor. DC is a town where everyone is in a constant mode of reinvention. Its diversity draws you in, and it’s power seductive. There are pure Washingtonians (our very own El Jefe is one), but you wouldn’t know it until you ask. Once you play DC’s power games, it’s hard to leave.

Introducing the players of ANTIDOTE, Issue #1.

ANTIDOTE is coming in September! Pre order your copy today!

Martinique “Marti” Dane

Smart, intense, and takes no shit from anyone. Marti Danes is a little nosy, maybe a lot nosy. Either way she cuts through and clarifies bullshit the political and powerful classes sell to the public. She’s a star reporter at a paper that doesn’t twinkly like it used to. Loyalty is important to her, and she’ll remain that way for her publisher and mentor, Gabby Summers. She’s seen a lot and done much; yet, cynicism has not tainted her to the point of giving up. She gives a voice to those who are hard to hear or may not speak.

Jessica Grae

ExSpy Private Eye. Some-time rival, one-time friend. Jessica Grae helps the polished and professional keep their public images…polished and professional. Visitors come to DC thinking that the national seat is a staid and stuffy place. They soon find out DC is one of the most open and out-there cities on the planet. People like Grae cleanup after the polished and professional get messy.

Khalil Williams

Assistant Deputy Chief of the Congressional Research Service. Khalil works in a very prominent and politically sensitive position at the Library of Congress. Everyday, CRS investigates and reports on information at Congress’ pleasure. What they give lawmakers ultimately influences law.

Senator Edmund Ross

One of the ranking members of the Senate Intelligence Committee. He’s the senior senator of the great state of Mississippi. It’s an election year, and Senator Ross is dialing for dollars. ANTIDOTE starts at one of DC’s most cherished institutions, the political fundraiser.

Chelsea Williams

Khalil Williams’ daughter. Chelsea is harboring a secret her dad doesn’t want to know. Somehow, Marti and Jessica Grae are involved. In what we don’t know yet. In DC, everyone is hiding something.

Peter Holden

Peter Holden is Senator Edmund Ross’ Chief-of-Staff. He’s working his ass off trying to get his boss reelected in a state with a shifting population that no longer has a taste for the status quo. It’s becoming hard reelecting a Republican in the current state of affairs, and he doesn’t need Danes’ shit stirring.

Elijah “Eli” Greene

Eli Greene is the Editor-in-Chief of Teh Meridian. He started at the paper as a street kid selling papers for 25 cents to morning commuters on New York Ave. He’s worked through the ranks from janitor to Editor-in-Chief. Things were different then, but somehow they stay the same. He’s reported on everything from Watergate to the First Black President (Palmer). Cynicism has made him hopeless on seeing any real change.

Gabriela “Gabby” Summers

Bold, black, and beautiful, Gabby Summers is the Pulitzer Prize winning Publisher of Teh Meridian. Head of a media property struggling to thrive in a dying industry, Summers has seen better days. She cut her teeth and won her Pulitzer in investigative journalism. She believes in the power of speech, as her reporting brought down an entire committee during the Caribbean Cash Scandal. It’s her father’s paper, and she’ll be damned to see it balled up and tossed in the waste. She’s always packing heat.

Mikey

Who is she?
